Peter Has Created His Own Career Path at Transmeri by Embracing New Opportunities and Taking Initiative

13.10.2025

Peter has built his career within our Group, starting as a 15-year-old summer worker and progressing to IT Manager and Team Lead. His interest in development and proactive attitude have gradually led him to larger responsibilities. “I took initiative, and that’s how my journey at the company began. Over the years, I’ve continued with the same attitude,” Peter says.

Peter’s career at Sultrade began by chance in 9th grade: a school friend was the owner’s son and asked Peter to help with a moving project. “I took action, and that’s how my path at the company started,” he recalls. After the move, Peter worked in the warehouse after school and during summers. As he studied information technology at university of applied sciences, he moved on to customer service, accounts payable and receivable, eventually becoming a purchasing assistant and buyer.

During his studies, Peter found his calling. “I started to take on IT support tasks in the company on my own initiative,” he says. Thanks to his education, he handled the easier tasks and learned the more challenging ones by following an external partner. This marked the beginning of Peter’s IT career, and in his last years at Sultrade, he worked as ICT Manager, responsible for the company’s entire IT operations.

When Transmeri acquired Sultrade, Peter became System Manager for Transmeri Group. Since then, he has also worked as IT Development Manager and as the technical process owner for the e-commerce environment. Today, Peter is responsible for the Group’s IT infrastructure and digital services. His work includes managerial duties and larger responsibilities such as service procurement, process development, contract management, and various development projects in his role as IT Manager.

“My work is truly diverse, and I get to work on many different projects where things evolve,” Peter enthuses. Along the way, he has been involved in projects ranging from outsourcing warehouse and IT environments to launching e-commerce platforms, CRM projects, relocation projects, and cloud migrations, as well as leading company acquisition projects.
The best part of working at Transmeri Group is the opportunity to learn and always take on more challenging tasks, progressing to larger responsibilities. “I’ve been able to work independently, my supervisor trusts my expertise and is flexible, which makes it easier to balance work and personal life as a father of two active children.”

Over the past year, Transmeri Group has dived into the world of artificial intelligence under Peter’s guidance. The Group’s companies competed for the best AI ideas, and Miraculos’ “Trainer in Your Pocket,” won. The project is now in the proof-of-concept phase and will soon be tested with customers.

Transmeri Group has cottages in Lapland and elsewhere, which employees can rent at staff prices. Peter is responsible for the Åre cottage in the cottage committee and is also an enthusiastic user. “As a skiing enthusiast, I especially appreciate this benefit. Skiing in Åre is completely different from skiing at Finnish resorts,” Peter says.
