Didrichsen Art Museum
Museum activities since 1965
Transmeri’s founder and long-time CEO, Danish-born Gunnar Didrichsen, married Marie-Louise Granfelt in 1939. Art was their shared love from the beginning, resulting in the Didrichsen Art Museum in Kuusisaari, Helsinki, in 1965.
The couple acquired all the museum’s artworks together, and the pieces had to please both. The collection includes Finnish visual art from the 20th century, including works by Gallen-Kallela, Cawén, Schjerfbeck, Särestöniemi, Linnovaara, Hiltunen, and Pullinen. International artists represented include Picasso, Kandinsky, Miró, Léger, Moore, Giacometti, and Arp.
In recent years, the museum has repeatedly been among the top ten most popular art museums in Finland. Transmeri Group is one of the museum’s most significant supporters.
A podcast about the founding of the museum, the construction of its impressive art collection, and the surprising events leading to the construction of the house has also been published. It is suitable for listening to while visiting the museum and its surroundings. The podcast also serves as an audio guide to the house’s history
